Proverbs 20:4

so much happened at IHOP that i need time to process it and organize it in my brain before i start posting about it. so here's something to keep you occupied in the meantime! :)

The lazy man will not plow
because of winter;
He will beg during harvest and
have nothing.
Proverbs 20:4 NKJV

Throughout the Bible, "winter" symbolizes seasons of hardship and oppression, testings, trials, and other character-building times. "Plowing" is pretty self-explanatory - pushing in and pressing into God, even through the hard ground of winter. Biblical "harvest" symbolizes happy times of fruitfulness, increase, yields, and prosperity. If you put two and two together, those who do not press in during those hard "winter" times will not receive the greater character which is to come forth during the "harvest" times because they did not commit themselves to endure what God needed them to endure in order to build their character. Hence, the "lazy" - or fearful or unbelieving or fence-straddling - man will beg God for specific annointings or gifts or blessings or deliverances once harvest comes, and God won't be able to give them to the man because the character needed to sustain them is not in place. If the character is not in place, the giftings of the Lord will not be used properly or will be stolen by the enemy. So in conclusion, the lazy man will beg during harvest and have nothing.

Just some food for thought :)

You know I've read the bible a lot of times and read proverbs even more. However I never really thought that winter symbolized rough times. I just usually thought that it symbolized a season of your life but I guess that makes sense. :)

winter could totally symbolize another season of life!

this is just a revelation that God gave me last night. He showed me that winter is the driest season.. and the ground gets super hard and frozen.. which is cool to meditate on in relation to this verse
